Launch a Runtime Workbench

In this section you will learn how to run the com.omondo.uml.profile.example project inside Eclipse.

For this purpose, we need to set up Eclipse to launch a second workbench to test the sample plugin. This means that two Eclipses will be running at the same time. You can find more information about plugin development here.

Select the com.omondo.uml.profile.example project in the Package Explorer > open the popup menu > Run > Run.

Select Run-time workbench in the left pane under the Configuration heading and click on the New button.

Select New_configuration in the left pane, keep the default value and click on the Run button.

A second workbench window appears and you can now use the sample plugin in this new workbench window.

We have successfully launched a new Eclipse workbench from our traditional Eclipse. The first Eclipse could be considered as the master and used to perform modifications to the example and the second one is used for testing these modifications.
