In this section you will learn how to get started and create a Profile diagram.

For the purpose of this tutorial, create a folder (e.g Profiles). Select the project tutorial in the Package Explorer >New > Folder.

Enter the name of the folder (e.g profile) in the Folder name field.

We first need to create a new profile diagram. Select the profile folder in the package explorer and right click to open the popup menu > New > Other.

Select UML Diagrams >UML Profile Diagram in the New wizard and click on the Next button.

Edit the File name field (e.g. profile.prd) and click on the Finish button. Note that creating a profile diagram will automatically create another file with the profile.uml2 extension. This file contains the structure of the profile while the prd file only contains graphical information about the diagram layout.

The profile diagram editor pops up and we are ready to create a custom stereotype.
